He had him help gather bait at the dock, rig baits on the water, explained exactly how to fish the baits, fight fish, revive them for release. My son was all smiles the entire time. Joby was patient and encouraging from the outset. He answered all questions and set my son up with a set of skins that fit perfectly. My son was having so much fun he needed a reminder to eat lunch! "We had an amazing time on a private charter fishing trip with Captain Joby on the Regulator. It’s a beautiful boat that was very comfortable for my elderly parents and very safe for my two daughters, ages 5 and 8. I can’t say enough good things about Captain Joby. He’s an accomplished fisherman and very knowledgeable about the LI Sound waters and its history. But most importantly, Captain Joby completely won over my daughters by teaching them how to fish and being so personable. The fishing on the trip was like nothing I’ve ever seen. We started off with success with the porgies which was a great thrill for my kids and then moved onto bigger game hunting. We hit gold with the Striper fishing. Captain Joby had the hotspot nailed down and there wasn’t a moment when we weren’t catching and reeling in fish. As soon as we dropped the line, we were getting bites of very large blues or striped bass. We ended up keeping 2 beautiful striper and it would’ve been more if we were lawfully allowed to keep the bigger ones we caught. Captain Joby filleted them perfectly and they were ready for us by the time we pulled back in the harbor. It was a memorable day for my family.
