"Lovely modern art museum with nice views from the 8th floor balcony. It's not a very large museum like MoMA or the Met so you can get through it fairly quickly. They have free entry (with tickets) on Friday evening which is perfect for date night. Near the high line which is a nice place to walk through Chelsea."
"I’d pick moma (museum modern art) if you are short of time, over the Whitney. But if you like Modern art and can do both you will be glad that you came here There’s a lot of beautiful views. There’s a nice restaurant down on the first floor. There’s a great French bakery! When near the top there’s a coffee shop with some white snacks with incredible views. Also, it’s right next to the water and it’s also on the highline walk. Really well integrated. It’s a smaller museum. You can see the whole thing in about an hour"
"I went with my children a few weeks ago and it was so much fun! There is so much different artwork, and the atmosphere is so exciting. There were a couple of floors with balconies, and they have different artwork outside! That was so creative in my eyes. They have a restaurant as well which is always a good thing! You have the option to take the elevator or go up/down the stairs which I appreciate because sometimes taking the elevator with a ton of people activates my social anxiety. on the first floor they always have music playing on Fridays and it's so much fun to watch people join. I plan to go back soon!"
Friday evenings offer free entry and a lively atmosphere, while other times allow for a more focused art viewing experience.
